The only way she could be in touch with them and hear their voices is through a mobile phone. She regards her mobile phone as the representative of her children and becomes possessive of it. After her younger son is accused of theft,he leaves the house. Ranganayaki desperately tries contacting him in order to ask him to return to save their house.
